Specifically I am looking for any evidence that shows if you have been active in discussions about a BID being established in Lichfield.

If there is no documented evidence to that effect but it is known that conversations have taken place please provide as much detail as possible and, where possible, who those discussions were with.

Dear Mr John

Further to your recent request for information I can confirm the following
meetings/discussions have taken place relating specifically to a potential
BID for Lichfield City:

29 October 2008 planned meeting with Sue Ashley Warwishire County Council
to discuss their support programme for BIDS - meeting cancelled due to
illness of Warwick CC representative.

11 November 2008 meeting with Lichfuield Chamber of Trade to explore
possibility of a BID
20 November 2008 meeting with Richard Lewis and Sue Ashley takes place -
Concern expressed as to the resources needed to work up a proposal and
also the timing of a BID bearing in mind the City Centre redevelopment at
Friarsgate. Noted the lack of support from Staffordshire County Council.

18th March and 14 April 2009 updates on progress elsewhere in the country
discussed
15 April 2009 possible seminar being discussed and the timing again an
issue. Chamber of Trade felt that we should not pursue at this time.

6 December 2010 request from the Chamber of Trade that we start to look at
this again.
2 February 2011 meeting took place. Vision statement shared with attendees
and rateable values (see note attached). Again timing discussed and the
impact of the new shopping centre an issue.

6 June 2011 meeting took place but little progress.
11 January 2012 Lichfield City Coordination Group meeting. The concept of
a Business Improvement District briefly explained and discussed. Meeting
had mixed views about whether to progress with one now or whether to wait
for the Friarsgate Development to commence.
