Dear Northern Ireland Transport Holding Company,

May i please request under the FOI act a copy of the current faretables for all of your bus routes (showing all Single and Return fares and all other tickets you sell and accept).

Yours faithfully,

Edward Harris

FOI, Northern Ireland Transport Holding Company

Dear Mr. Harris,

RE: Freedom of Information Act 2000

Thank you for your Freedom of information request (our ref: FOI710) which
was received on 11 May 2018.

Your request was as follows:

“May I please request under the FOI act a copy of the current faretables
for all of your bus routes (showing all Single and Return fares and all
other tickets you sell and accept)”

Response

The Freedom of Information Act imposes a duty on us to confirm whether we
hold the information specified in your request. Having searched our
records, we can confirm that whilst we do hold all of the relevant fares
information on our internal system, it is not held in individual fare
tables and is not readily exportable into that format.

Section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act makes allows a public
authority to refuse requests for information where the cost of dealing
with them would exceed the appropriate limit. This limit is set in
regulations at £450 and translates as 2 ½ days’ work for Translink staff,
charged at £25 per hour.

We estimate that it would take far in excess of the appropriate limit to
produce fares lists for the hundreds of ticket types we sell across
thousands of routes in a visually readable format. For that reason, we
cannot fully process your request as currently presented.

You may wish to narrow the scope of your request and be more specific
about the information required so that it might come within the cost
limit. Please note that even if your re-framed request can be processed,
exemptions may apply. For example, although we have not relied on the
exemption at this time, it could be argued that the information would be
commercially sensitive if delivered in the format requested.

Review Procedure

If you are not satisfied with this response you may request a review by
writing to the Translink General Counsel and Company Secretary, who has
overall responsibility for Freedom of Information and Data Protection
issues within this organisation. Correspondence should be addressed to the
above-mentioned at: Translink, 22 Great Victoria Street, Belfast BT2 7LX
or by email to [1][NITHCo / Translink request email].

If having exhausted the review process you are not content that your
request or review has been dealt with correctly, you have a further right
of appeal to the Information Commissioner who will make an independent
judgement. The address of the Information Commissioner is: Wycliffe House,
Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF. The address of the Information
Commissioner’s Office for Northern Ireland is: 3rd floor, 14 Cromac Place,
Gasworks, Belfast, BT7 2JB.

Yours sincerely,

The FOI/DPA Team
