Freedom of Information Request for Reading transport Bus Safety Incident Data
for Q1 (1 January – 30 March) 2019
Dear Sir or Madame,
Since 2014, Transport for London (TfL) has published Bus Safety Incident Data on its website
every quarter (https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/publication...).
The data publishes shows injuries by Bus Route, Operator and Borough supported by a
dataset containing all this information made available for public scrutiny.
Accordingly, I would to make a Freedom of Information Request for Reading transport
to provide me with a spreadsheet displaying the Bus Safety Incident Data for the period 1
January -30 March 2019 showing:
1. Date of Incident
2. Bus Route
3. Local Name of Operator
4. Operator Group Name (if applicable)
5. Bus Garage/Depot
6. Injury Description (Fatality, Serious/Minor Injury – Taken to Hospital, MinorTreated at Scene)
7. Victim’s Sex
8. Victim’s Age
9. Incident Event Type (Collision, Fall, Assault, other)
10. Victim Category (Passenger, Pedestrian, Cyclists, 3rd Party Vehicle, Bus Driver,

The information you request Is not collected in the format you require. I
have provided an extract of our insurance claims handling database that
includes all reported incidents (at fault, not at fault and disputed) but
does not record:

Please note that the first four characters of "Route" give the route
number, those after the forward slash are a vehicle reference.

"Accident Description" = Incident Event Type (Collision or Passenger Acc)

"Collision Description" indicates for Passenger Acc (= fall) whether Adult
or Child and for Collision whether pedestrian, cyclist, other vehicle or
roadside infrastructure involved.

If you are dissatisfied with this response for any reason you have the
right to seek an internal review. A request for review should be submitted
to our Customer Services Team within two months from the date of my
initial response. An internal panel will then review the response and
advise you of the outcome.

If having requested a review by Reading Buses you are not satisfied with
the outcome you have the right of appeal to the Information Commissioner’s
Office (Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF).
