Dear Sir or Madam,

1)How many complaints have been received by the PCO / TfL from PHV customers concerned over PHV entitlement to use bus lanes?

2)How many complaints have been received by the PCO about the use of PHV of M4 Bus Lane?

Yours faithfully,

Patrick Raeburn

Crowson Darren (PCO), Public Carriage Office

Dear Mr Raeburn,

Thank you for your email dated 29 October 2009 requesting information
about private hire vehicles and bus lanes. Your request for information
has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information

Our records show that there have been 192 complaints about private hire
vehicles using the M4 bus lane.

We are not able to provide you with a figure for the number of complaints
received from private hire customers concerned about the entitlement of
private hire vehicles to use bus lanes, as correspondence is recorded in
such a way as to enable us to search for just this type of complaint or
correspondence. However, I've checked with my colleagues about this and
they believe that the total number is quite low and would probably be no
more than 20 over the last five years.

If you have any queries or would like to discuss your request, please do
not hesitate to contact me and if you are dissatisfied with the way TfL
has handled your information request, you can ask us to conduct an
internal review of our decision.

The internal review will be conducted by someone other than the person who
made the original decision, in accordance with the complaints procedure
published on our website at [1]www.tfl.gov.uk/foi.

Requests for internal review should be addressed to:

Head of Information Access and Compliance

Floor 5, Windsor House

42-50 Victoria Street
