Burning recycling

The request was successful.

Dear Caerphilly County Borough Council,

When the coronavirus pandemic first hit, some councils across the UK - including Cardiff - started burning recyclable waste because it was the only way of maintaining kerbside collections.

Please may you tell me if the council has burnt any recyclable waste during the last three years?

Is the council still burning waste and how much has been burnt?

Yours faithfully,

Peter Hall

(1) When the coronavirus pandemic first hit, some councils across the UK -
including Cardiff - started burning recyclable waste because it was the
only way of maintaining kerbside collections. Please may you tell me if
the council has burnt any recyclable waste during the last three years?

Not only have we not burned any recyclable waste in the last three years,
the recycling tonnage collected from the kerbside actually increased by
25% in 2020/21 compared with 2019/20.

Whilst some Councils suspended or cancelled some parts of the collection
services during the said period, we continued to offer the full suite of
regular kerbside refuse and recycling collections.

Is the council still burning waste and how much has been burnt?

Not applicable.

We supply this information based on your original request.  If this is not
what you wanted or if you feel we have not fully understood your request,
