Number and rate of cremations in Scotland was about the same as in London = 70%. In Scotland 2020 there were 64,085 all-cause deaths and 45,335 cremations= In 2019 = 40,670. In 2018 = 40,601 In 2017 = 39,226 in 2015 = 38,547 cremations.
Yet, total deaths in Aberdeen in 2015 was 3231 which was 31% more than in 2020 when there were 2453 deaths. Overall had 2020 the lowest death number compare to previous 5 years; Aberdeen Council a decrease of 3%. Looking at the cremation and burial numbers from Edinburgh Council an increment of 6%; Glasgow Council in 2020 an increment of 1.3%. In Scotland 2020 there were 569 covid deaths without a comorbidity: similar as the average flu mortality. Looking at the cremation and burial numbers of other UK councils and boroughs it raises the question how were the deaths counted.
