Burglary statistics request

The request was refused by Dyfed Powys Police.

Dear Dyfed Powys Police,

I would like to request information of how many home burglaries have been reported to your force in the last three years (2011, 2012 and 2013), and the access points that were used to gain entry. Could you please provide month by month data, so we can compare an increase in trends as the year progresses, or at peak times throughout the year?

In addition if you have the data, could you confirm whether the entry was through a breach of security, for example by breaking a lock on a door rather than simply entering through an open window.

To summarise, I would like to know:

1) A month by month figure of how many home burglaries there have been reported to your force between January 2011 and December 2013
2) The access point that was used to gain entry in each of these cases (eg through the front door, garage door, a window, etc)
3) The number of cases each month where entry was gained through a breach of security, for example breaking a lock on a door.

I would be very grateful if you were able to provide me with this information.

Yours faithfully,

Nathan Jack

Dear Mr Jack,

FOI Request: 599/2014 – request concerning burglary statistics

We are aware that you currently have an outstanding FOI Request that has
not yet been dealt with.  We have tried to keep you informed of the
reasons for the delay and have made every effort to deal with your
Request.

Dyfed-Powys Police seeks to continually improve its service delivery and
has recognised delays in some areas of the FOI process. As a consequence,
a new, more efficient FOI Request process is being introduced on 5^th
January 2015. This process will improve the timeliness of response to
applicants.

As a result of the new process being implemented, any outstanding, overdue
requests will effectively be closed.

We would suggest that, if you still require the information requested, you
submit a new request after 5^th January 2015 and it will be dealt with
under the new request process.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused by the introduction of
the new process but can assure you that if you do submit a new request it
will be dealt with as diligently as possible.

Furthermore, please see the attached internal review process which details
the procedure should a complaint wish to be made.

Yours Sincerely,
