Dear Arun District Council,

Could you please let me have a list of buildings owned by Arun District Council which are listed, a building of special character or are identified to have heritage value. For example the original non conformist chapel in the grounds of Littlehampton cemetery dated 1872.
What regular inspection and maintenance regime is in place for such buildings and is the opportunity taken to look for all possible funding sources to keep heritage assets in as good a condition as possible?

Yours faithfully,

Derrick Chester

Dear Mr Chester

Thank you for your Information Request received on 12 May 2020.

REQUEST:

Could you please let me have a list of buildings owned by Arun District
Council which are listed, a building of special character or are
identified to have heritage value.

For example, the original non-conformist chapel in the grounds of
Littlehampton cemetery dated 1872.

What regular inspection and maintenance regime is in place for such
buildings and is the opportunity taken to look for all possible funding
sources to keep heritage assets in as good a condition as possible?

RESPONSE:

Arun District Council does not hold this information in an electronic
format that would allow the Council to provide a full response to your
enquiry, however, Arun District Council’s Property & Estates department
confirms the following:

‘We don’t hold a comprehensive list of buildings which fit that
description [“listed, a building of special character or are identified to
have heritage value”]. All assets are inspected at a frequency determined
by a dynamic assessment of need, taking account of Council priorities,
asset condition, and any potential risk to public. Maintenance is carried
out as required, informed by the aforementioned inspections and again
guided by Council priorities and allocated budgets. Any planned works on
heritage type assets includes consideration of potential funding from
external supporting bodies such as English Heritage’.

If you are dissatisfied with the way your request for information has been
handled, you can write asking for a review of the Council’s response,
within the next two months, to the Information Management Team at: Arun
District Council, Arun Civic Centre, Maltravers Road, Littlehampton, West
Sussex, BN17 5LF (email [1][Arun District Council request email]).

If, having exhausted our review procedure, you remain dissatisfied with
