Dear South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust,

I would like to know the figure spent for your last 3 complete fiscal years (assuming the most recent complete fiscal year ended in 2017) on Community First Responders / Volunteer Emergency Responders - and if you differentiate these roles (i.e. one is blue light trained, one is not), please provide the different figures spent where possible.

which we received on 01 January 2018.

 

We will deal with this request in accordance with your right of access to
information we hold under the Freedom of Information Act and I attach a
leaflet containing further information about both your rights and our
obligations under this legislation.You will see from this that we are not
obliged to generate information we do not already hold in order to provide
what we are asked for, such as by collating data or formulating direct
answers to questions, but you are entitled to receive copies of records
(or extracts from them) that contain the information you have requested.

 

We will research the information you have requested and we will respond
providing what we hold no later than 29 January 2018 in accordance with
the timescales set by the Act.

 

We will inform you if:

a) We are unable to provide you with any of the information you have
requested, and explain the reason for this; and

b) Any fee that is payable for the information we are able to provide.

I refer to our acknowledgement on 02 January 2018 of your request for
information regarding First Responders under the provisions of the Freedom
of Information Act.  We are able to provide the information below:

 

We are aware that  due to the format of our standard FOI response where
the information is tabled as part of the body of an email these can come
out a little strangely on the What Do They Know website so I have also
attached the response in a word document for your convenience.

 

Information requested Our Response

 
1. I would like to know the figure SWASFT directly recruit CFR
spent for your last 3 complete volunteers and also works closely
fiscal years (assuming the most with St John Ambulance who provide

The total budget to deliver a range
  of community initiatives including
defibrillators, Tri-Service
engagement, Co-Responders, community
work and youth project work in 
2016/17 was £1,395,341 there is no
specific budget for CFR’s.
Approximately £290,000 is spent
directly on CFR’s, excluding staffing
costs for administration. The
staffing costs which are £669,741 of
this total budget are spread among
all of these initiatives and we are
not therefore able to split them down
specifically for CFR work.

 

Prior to 2016/17 the budget came
under a wider operations budget and
the community initiatives work was
not distinguished within that budget.

 

To put these figures in context
SWASFT attends in the region of
900,000 calls on a yearly basis.
