BSF and Academy information

T Hyatt made this Freedom of Information request to Durham County Council

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear Durham County Council,

I would like to make a request for the following information regarding the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) and Academy programmes.

1) Which schools and academies in your area are either undergoing redevelopment as a result of the BSF and Academy programmes or will do in the future, listing which are confirmed to be going ahead either currently or in the future and which are awaiting a review before they can be confirmed. If all BSF/Academy developments in your area have been cancelled due to the spending cuts, then this is all I need to be informed of and you can disregard the following requested details.

2) The start and completion dates for the building works on each school and academy, with attention paid to make sure that these are up-to-date as I understand that the estimated start and completion dates may well have changed since the BSF and Academy spending cuts in July/August.

3) The main building contractor and architect which you have awarded each school to. If this decision has not yet been made for certain schools, then the expected date when you plan to make your decision on this.

Yours faithfully,

Mr T Hyatt

Dear T Hyatt,

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT - RESPONSE TO REQUEST

Your request for information received on 16-DEC-2010 has now been
considered.

You requested: I would like to make a request for the following
information regarding the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) and
Academy programmes.

1) Which schools and academies in your area are either undergoing
redevelopment as a result of the BSF and Academy programmes or will do in
the future, listing which are confirmed to be going ahead either currently
or in the future and which are awaiting a review before they can be
confirmed. If all BSF/Academy developments in your area have been
cancelled due to the spending cuts, then this

is all I need to be informed of and you can disregard the following
requested details.

Our response: The schools and academies are as per the Department for
Education list issued in July 2010 (please see attached). Stanley Academy
has since received authorisation to proceed, all others remain as per the
list.

2) The start and completion dates for the building works on each school
and academy, with attention paid to make sure that these are up-to-date
as I understand that the estimated start and completion dates may well
have changed since the BSF and Academy spending cuts in July/August.

Our response: Programmed dates are as follows:

Open January 2011:

. Sedgefield Community College

. Shotton Hall

. Easington Community School

St Bedes started on site August 2010, for completion April 2013

Dene start on site March 2011, completion April 2013

Glendene start on site March 2011, completion January 2012

Wellfield start on site May 2011, completion April 2013

Stanley academy start on site September 2011, completion April 2013

3) The main building contractor and architect which you have awarded each
school to. If this decision has not yet been made for certain schools,
then the expected date when you plan to make your decision on this.

Our response: The council has procured a single LEP for delivery of all
schools under the BSF Programme, this is Inspired Spaces.

I hope that this information is of assistance, however, if you are
