BSc/Msc Social Anthropology Statistics
Dear London School of Economics,
may I request statistics on BSc and MSc Social Anthropology (2021); the number of applicants and offers and universities applied from. If possible, any information on acceptances with the lowest requirements and percentage of students receiving funding would be most appreciated.
Yours faithfully,
Venla A.
Thank you for your email. As you will appreciate, information requests
place additional demands on the School in terms of costs and staff time.
At present we are having to prioritise our finite resources in order to
meet the unprecedented challenges we are facing during the Coronavirus
(COVID-19) pandemic. As such, we need to advise you that while we will
continue to process individual requests, you may experience some delay in
our response during the current pandemic.
Dear Venla
Further to your recent FoI request, the information you requested is published by the School and can be found here:
https://info.lse.ac.uk/staff/divisions/S...
Given the low number of applicants from each organisation, details of individual applicants, their organisation and their grades/offers could be easily used to re-identify individuals, and as such is witheld under Section 40 FoI Act .
Could I ask you to think about the underlying question that is prompting your data request. If you are attempting to find out what are your chances of getting a place, remember that this cannot be answered by reference to data. Applications are considered on their individual merits, based on a holistic view of your supporting documents in the context of the current cohort. Figures from previous years will not offer any insight on your application. Your best way to find the answer is to apply.
If you think that the information provided does not meet your request, contact Rachael Maguire on 020 7849 4622 or write to Louise Nadal, School Secretary, London School of Economics and Political Science, Houghton Street, London, WC2A 2AE. We will then review the response to your request and get back to you within 20 working days. You can also contact the Information Commissioner's Office http://www.ico.gov.uk/, though they expect the internal review to be carried out before receiving a complaint directly.
