Your request to access information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000
Thank you for your request for access to information held by the University of Warwick.
We have considered your request under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act
2000.

You have requested access to the following information:
Please provide the following data, for the past 3 admission cycles:

Data note:
- Application and Offer data are provided for all applicants indicating they were taking
qualification title “Further Mathematics” (or variations of) and ‘A-level’ (or variations
of) in the relevant sections of the UCAS application. This may have been taken in
combination with other A-levels or other qualifications. UCAS cycle indicates the
cycle that the application was submitted to. Relevant information provided in other
parts of the UCAS application form is not reported as it is not possible to review each
application within the cost limit.
2) Average A-Level predicted grades of applicants, and average predicted grades of
offer holders.
The University receives approximately 40,000 to 45,000 undergraduate applications per
year. Qualification data is collated from information provided in the relevant sections of the
UCAS form in free-text fields. It is unfortunately not possible to provide an overall average
of A-level predicted grades for the last 3 admissions cycles within the cost limit. We are
relying on the exemption under Section 12 (1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 in
this regard.
Please note that Entry requirements differ for courses at Warwick ranging from A*A*A* to
ABB with differing subject requirements. Competitive courses normally attract applicants
with the strongest applications and predicted grades closer to A*A*A*.
3) Number of applicants who did 4 A-levels, and number of offer holders who did 4 A-
levels.
It is not possible to provide the number of applicants who took 4 A-levels due to the way the
data is held in the database. Applicants often take A-levels in multiple years or resit and all
iterations of the qualification may come through from the UCAS form. Sometimes this
information is provided in other sections of the UCAS form, such as the personal statement
or reference and as such cannot be reported. The number of A-level qualifications taken is
not a validated field within the database. Any requests that require individual assessment of
applications will exceed the cost limit due to the number of applications received. We are
relying on the exemption under Section 12 (1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 in
this regard.
4) Average number of level 9s held by applicants, and by offer holders.
The University receives approximately 40,000 to 45,000 undergraduate applications per
year. Qualification data is collated from information provided in the relevant sections of the
UCAS form, which is provided in free-text fields. It is not possible to provide an average
number of level 9’s held by applicants and offer holders, as this analysis would exceed the

cost limit. We are relying on the exemption under Section 12 (1) of the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 in this regard.
To note competitive courses normally attract applicants with the strongest applications and
the most level 9/A* at GCSE.
