Dear Liverpool Clinical Laboratories,

Thank you for responding to my earlier request. Much appreciated.

Please could I have, for the period 01.01.2024 - 18.06.2024, the following information:

1. For tests specifically carried out to identify Brucella canis infection/exposure, the a) number of tests carried out, and b) number of tests in which the test result was i. negative, ii. equivocal, iii. positive. The tests of interest are:
SAT
iELISA
PCR

For the period 01.03.2023 - 18.06.2024 (note the earlier year as the starting point), please could you tell me:
1. For samples that were PCR + or equivocal, how many were ALSO iELISA + or equivocal?
2. Vice versa.
2. What the mean/median/std dev./ 1st and 3rd quartile/max/min s/p ratio was for the samples that were iELISA + during this period?

More generally,
1. Would the standard serology testing (not Brucella canis) carried out for Brucella spps. at your laboratory detect Brucella suis?
2. Could the iELISA detect brucella suis? has this been discussed with the APHA?

Finally, please could you confirm:
1. Do you know have sufficient information in your possession to be able to report the number of humans that, during 01.01.2023 - 18.06.2024 have:
a. Tested positive on the PCR on at least one occasion
b. Tested positive on the iELISA on at least one occasion
c. Tested positive on the SAT on at least one occasion
d. Tested positive on any two (or more) of these tests at a single testing point?

Many thanks as always for your time.

Yours faithfully,

Dr Buckley

ps. if it would be easier I am happy to just have an excel spreadsheet or similar with the raw data. I can do the necessary calculations.
