British Troops in Ukraine - why have British citizens been lied to by the MOD?

C. Williams made this Freedom of Information request to British Army Automatic anti-spam measures are in place for this older request. Please let us know if a further response is expected or if you are having trouble responding.

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, British Army should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear British Army,

The recent leak of classified pentagon papers provides irrefutable evidence that British troops have been deployed in Ukraine along with soldiers from three other NATO countries (the document is dated 23rd March 2023). This expose provides verification to the longstanding Russian claim that UK and NATO troops have indeed been directly involved in hostilities in Ukraine. It also shows that the UK and NATO powers have been lying to their citizens and to the wider world by falsely denying this. This is especially egregious behaviour and constitutes a betrayal of trust. No citizen can any longer believe what they are told by the MOD or indeed NATO, why should anyone believe accomplished liars.
My FOI relates to the deployment of British troops into Ukraine (these troops are sometimes called ‘special forces’):
1. Which persons in the British government and in the MOD are responsible for this deployment of British troops into Ukraine? Please state the names, titles and job roles of the decision makers.
2. Which persons in NATO are responsible for this deployment of British troops into Ukraine? Please state their names, titles and job roles of the decision makers.
3. Which individuals advised or canvassed for the deployment of British troops into Ukraine? Please state their names, titles and job roles.
4. Did any foreign government advise, lobby, canvass or in any way try to persuade or support the deployment of British troops into Ukraine? If so, what foreign governments or entities?
Regards,
C. Williams
