British National Party - Membership List

The request was successful.

Dear Sir or Madam,

In November 2008 a list of around 13,000 names and home addresses alleged to be members of the British National Party were posted on an internet website.

This list (hereafter referred to as 'The List') was alleged to list the details of serving members of various UK Police Forces.

1) Can you let me know if any department of Merseyside Police, specifically the Human Resources / Personnel Department currently has a copy of 'The List'?

2) Can you let me know if any department of Merseyside Police, specifically the Human Resources / Personnel Department has previously held a copy of 'The List', acquired on or after November 17 2008, but has subsequently destroyed 'The List'?

3) If the answer to question 1) or 2) above indicates that Merseyside Police currently has, or previously had, a copy of 'The List', can you please detail how 'The List' came to be in your possession. In other words, how did the Merseyside Police physically acquire either the electronic or physical 'hard copy' copy of 'The List'?

Yours faithfully,

A. Hunter

Dear Sir or Madam,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Merseyside Police's handling of my FOI request 'British National Party - Membership List' as the first due response date has passed (response due 9th Jan) and your alternative promised date for dealing with this request (28th Jan) has now also passed without a response being received.

Please address this matter with the utmost urgency and no later than 30th Jan; as a police service you are now in the unseemly position of breaking the law and I fully intend bringing this matter to the attention of the rightful authorities with the intention of initiating action available against you.

Yours sincerely,

A. Hunter

Dear "A Hunter",

I respond to your email below. You should by now have received a further
extension notice from the person dealing with your request. Please accept
my apology for the fact that it was not forwarded to you yesterday.

At this point an 'internal review' cannot be carried out because there has
not yet been a response to you that can be reviewed. Please see the ICO
good practice guidance in respect of section 45 of the codes of practice
that provides information as to when an internal review should be carried
out.

Although an internal review may not be pertinent at this stage, your
dissatisfaction is noted and every effort will be made to respond to you
before 13th of February 2008 (the date to which it has been extended).

Yours sincerely

I can't believe they are taking so long. Perhaps you should inform the Information Commissioner about this one.
