British Armed Forces - Pass and Fail rates for New Recruits Entrance Tests

The request was refused by Ministry of Defence.

Dear Ministry of Defence,

Would you please provide me with information on the pass and failure rates in the tests for new recruits to the British armed forces as follows:
a) analysed by service arm and service regiment/specialism/unit as appropriate
b) for each of the last ten years ending in whichever date is most convenient to you
c) analysed by pass and fail rates for each of the tests involved and the overall pass/fail rates
c) with separate figures for officer recruitment and recruitment of other ranks

Thank you.

Yours faithfully,

phillip perlin

Dear People-Sec-FOI Mailbox (MULTIUSER),

Thank you for your reply dated 7 August in answer to my FoI query of 8 July.

You ask what is meant by 'new recruits'? I am asking for information on all those who apply for recruitment to the British armed forces and are processed through the recruitment process, whether they are eventually successful or not. The information to be analysed as detailed in my original request.

You also ask 'which tests'? I am asking for information relating to all the tests that are conducted as part of the recruitment processes for the armed forces, including but not limited to, literacy, numeracy, career interviews, BARB, team exercises and medical examinations. I would like the pass/fail rates for each individual test or suite of tests in an individual battery.

I assume you would already have the information requested for each test in order to evaluate whether the individual tests are achieving their objectives in the recruitment processes. However, if you only have the information for the results of all the tests taken as a whole, then that will be accepted.

Yours sincerely,

phillip perlin

Dear People-Sec-FOI Mailbox (MULTIUSER),
Thank you for your reply. I appreciate that it would be disproportionate to provide the information as I have requested it. Is there any of the information requested, in whatever form, you would be able to provide?

Yours sincerely,
