Bristol Downs management plan
Dear Bristol City Council,
At the following page:
http://www.bristol.gov.uk/sites/default/...
is the city council's management plan for the Bristol side of the Avon Gorge.
Please could you tell me whether there is an equivalent management plan or plans, or similar document(s), covering the area of the city's downs (i.e. the land designated under the Downs Act) which falls outside the area covered by the Gorge management plan.
If so, please could you provide me with a copy of the plan(s), and any documents or other recorded information which was used in preparing it or which is referenced within it.
Please provide this in electronic format via this WhatDoTheyKnow request.
Yours faithfully,
Susan Davis

Dear Freedom of Information,
Thank you very much for your prompt reply covering the first part of my request: "please could you provide me with a copy of the plan(s)".
Could I draw your attention to the second part of my request: "and any documents or other recorded information which was used in preparing it or which is referenced within it."
I look forward to receiving a response in respect of this second part.
Yours sincerely,
Susan Davis
Dear Freedom of Information,
In addition, having taken a brief initial look at the plan itself, please could you also release full-scale copies of the following maps (including the information panels accompanying them):
- page 4, entitled "Site plan"
- page 15, entitled "Aerial view"
- page 17, entitled "Landscape character appraisal plan"
- page 27, entitled "Asset plan"
At the resolution to which they have been scanned in the PDF version of the document, I find it difficult to discern the fine detail necessary to understand these diagrams or match the features with their keys.
Yours sincerely,
Susan Davis
Dear Ms Davis. In response to the second part of your request please find
attached various maps which hopefully comprise the information you are

Dear Chris Harper,
Thanks for these. However, an error occurred when I tried to open the maps. Could you check them to see if you get an error as well?
Susan
Dear Susan. Sorry, yes I did receive your e-mail but have been away from the office for a few days so am catching up on my e-mails backlog. I don't appear to have a problem opening attachments as they are pdfs. If you are still having problems could you please send me your postal address and I will post them to you.

Hi Chris,
I've asked friends to try opening them as well, on a variety of different computers and all have the same error: only part of the image is displayed. Perhaps there is something special about the version of Adobe in use at the city council? Would it be possible to get them converted to high-resolution JPGs or TIFFs instead?
Yours sincerely,
Susan Davis
Dear Susan. I have forwarded your request to a colleague in Parks who supplied me with the maps to see what they can do.
Regards
Chris
Susan. The plans are now attached as JPEGs - hopefully, that's done the trick
Regards
Chris
