Bridleway extinction arrangement
Dear Northamptonshire County Council,
The response by Highways England to my FOI request regarding this matter (https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/b...) suggested that you may hold more information regarding the extinction arrangement of the bridleway described below.
There used to be a bridleway near OS grid reference SU 84222 90558 (or short version: SU842905).
This can, for example, be seen on the following historic maps:
https://maps.nls.uk/view/102053550 - bottom right corner, running from Hill Green to Isolation Hospital (published 1952)
https://maps.nls.uk/view/128076441 - visible to the left of the text "Handy Cross" (published 1942)
Obviously, nowadays, the M40 cuts through this old bridleway; it is also no longer part of the published rights of way map.
Can you confirm this bridleway was indeed legally extinct? If so, when did this happen and what were the extinction arrangements?
Kind regards,
Frank Schoofs
