Dear Mr Nathanail

Thank you for your request dated 30/01/17.

Your enquiry was as follows:

I would like the following information for each route requested below for
2016 (or the 2015-2016 financial year depending how it is recorded):

- Route subsidy cost

- Route revenue

- Subsidy basis (minimum cost/minimum subsidy)

- Average passengers per subsidised journey

Ideally I would like this information for every route wholly or partially
subsidised by Derbyshire County Council. However, if the scope of that
request exceeds the maximum permissible cost of responding to a request
then please provide the information for the following routes only:

6.1, 6.3, 7.1, 9, 9A, 9.3, 11, 14 (Ilkeston - Sandiacre), 15 (Ilkeston -
Sawley), 17, 19, 19S, 20, 29, 59, 61, 70, 73 (Weston on Trent - Derby),
101, 102, 103, 108, 110, 111, 113, 114, 118, 138, 140, 141, 142, 143, 144,
147, 148, 441, 442, 449.

Please see the below Freedom of Information Act 2000 response:

The request detailed above has had to be refused under Section 12 (1) of
the Freedom of Information Act because the cost of compliance would exceed
the appropriate limit set for such requests.

This is because it has been estimated that the full request would take
over approximately 70 hours of work, while providing the information in
regards to the named services only would still be well over 20 hours of
work. This is because the information being requested is not held in a
format in which it can easily be extracted and would require and need
officers to interrogate and extract the data from two separate software
systems, they would then be required to manipulated the data and collated
it in order to provide the actual data being requested and this would far
exceed the set compliance limit. Your request is therefore refused for the
reasons stated.

I also need to make you aware that it has been raised by Officers that not
all the data you have requested is actually held by the council.

In light of the above response you may therefore wish to reconsider any
subsequent request you may wish to make, by narrowing it sufficiently to
mean it is unlikely to exceed the compliance limit, this could possibly be
achieved by limiting the number of services you are seeking the data for
example to a maximum of 15, and by rewording your request to specify that
you will agree to limit it to only the information actually held by
Derbyshire County Council (DCC) in regards to the breakdown of data.

I hope this now satisfies your request.

However should you require a review of the response you have received to
your FOI/EIR request, please follow the procedure as set out below:-

If you wish to challenge the response, please send your comments to, and
