I hope you're well. It's Ashna here from Sky News.

I'm getting in touch with an FOI request to be used as part of a Sky News
piece.

We'd appreciate a response as soon as possible.

Questions requiring response:

1) How many bridges on motorways or A-roads have sections which are in a
"poor" or "very poor condition"?

2) How many pedestrian and highway bridges have reinforced autoclaved
aerated concrete present within them and their fixtures?

3) In the past three years, how much has been spent on repairing and
upgrading bridge structures to remove reinforced autoclaved aerated
concrete from them?

4) In the past three years, how much has been spent on repairing and

Thank you for your recent request received by the Council on 7th November
2023.

Your request and our response is as follows:

 1) How many bridges on motorways or A-roads have sections which are in a
"poor" or "very poor condition"?

There are currently 6 bridges on motorways and A-roads that have sections
which are in a poor or very poor condition.

2) How many pedestrian and highway bridges have reinforced autoclaved
aerated concrete present within them and their fixtures?

There are no pedestrian and highway bridges in Reading Borough that had
reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete present within them.

3) In the past three years, how much has been spent on repairing and
upgrading bridge structures to remove reinforced autoclaved aerated
concrete from them?

Reading Borough Council has not spent any money on this as we do not have
structures with reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete present within them

4) In the past three years, how much has been spent on repairing and
upgrading bridge structures?

In the past three years Reading Borough Council has spent £2.2 million on
repairing and upgrading bridge structures
