Brent HMO fines

We're waiting for Julian Amani to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Brent Borough Council,

I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request the following information:

1. For each year from 2021 to 2024, please provide the number of fines issued to landlords for operating unlicensed Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs)

2. For each fine issued, please provide:
1. The date the fine was issued
2. The amount of the fine
3. The address of the property
4. The number of occupants present at the time of assessment
5. The maximum number of occupants legally permitted
6. Where permissible, the name of the landlord or company fined

Please provide this information in spreadsheet format (CSV or XLS).

If it is not possible to provide the information requested due to the information exceeding the cost of compliance limits identified in Section 12, please provide advice and assistance, under your Section 16 obligations, on how I can refine my request to be included in the scope of the Act.

In any case, if you can identify ways my request could be refined please provide further advice and assistance to indicate this.

I look forward to your response within 20 working days, as stipulated by the Act.

Brent Council holds the information you have requested, however I have
withheld some of this information on the basis that I consider that the
following exemption applies. We have searched our records and some of the
information you have requested is also not held by Brent Council because
Its not recorded on our database. The information, which is held, is
provided below.

The requested information is exempt from disclosure under Section 40(2) of
the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FoIA). This is because the
information constitutes personal data as defined by Section 3 of the Data
Protection Act 2018 and disclosing it would breach the Data Protection Act
principles. This is an absolute exemption and consequently consideration
of the public interest test does not apply.
