Brenchley school surveyor report on school buildings

We're waiting for Andrew Dewdney to read recent responses and update the status.

Andrew Dewdney

Dear Kent County Council,

The governors of Brenchley COE school have stated that they have commissioned a surveyors report on the state of the school buildings. On the basis of this report, the governors of the school have stated that the school is beyond economic repair and a new CIC has been formed (Brenchley 21) to sell and develop the existing site and build a new school on a greenfield site opposite. The trust operating the school (Tenax Trust) have a survey stating that the school buildings are fully operational and that they have the resources (or are applying for those resources) so that they dispute the initial survey.

The school governors have not released the contents of the original survey to the public and refuse to do so on the basis that the report is "privileged". As far as I understand the concept of "privilege", this exists between a lawyer and his/her client, not between two commercial persons. The survey may be deemed as "confidential", but has been commissioned by a school and public body in Kent and should therefore be disclosed.

As the regulating body for schools in Kent I want you to release the surveyors report into the public domain.

Yours faithfully,

Andrew Dewdney
