Breakdown of Whole Blood Donations

The request was successful.

Stephen Keene-Elliott

Dear NHS Blood and Transplant,

Firstly, may I just thank you for the excellent work that you do! I am proud to be a blood donor (51st donation coming up on Saturday!)

I would like to have a breakdown of the number of donors that meet the following criteria:

- 1-4 donations (red card)
- 5-24 donations (bronze card)
- 25-49 donations (silver card)
- 50-74 donations (gold card)
- 75-99 donations (emerald card)
- 100-149 donations (ruby card)
- 150-199 donations

If possible, could these be broken down by gender and by ethnicity?

I would also be interested in a breakdown by the following criteria:
- active donors (last donation within the last 2 years)
- dormant donors (last donation between 2 and 10 years)
- inactive donors (last donation over 10 years ago)
- retired donors (aged 73 or more)

If this data is available, could it also be broken down by gender and ethnicity?

I am aware that the number of donations may not be totally accurate due to miscounting when you moved from the old paper system to the new computerised system, but I am happy to go with the figures you have on your system!

Thank you.

Yours faithfully,

Stephen Keene-Elliott
