Breakdown of Types of Illnesses and Outcome of DWP Atos Assessements

June Knight made this Freedom of Information request to Department for Work and Pensions

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was refused by Department for Work and Pensions.

Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

I am conducting some ongoing background research into the types of illness and conditions which are going through the Atos Medical Assessments and the DWP decisions and what the outcome is.

I find some quite serious conditions and permanent conditions, chronically disabling conditions and even terminal conditions are being called and going through the Atos medical assessments and being wrongly written off and the person having to go through several repeat assessments and appeals even to point of permanent incapacity in their condition or up to death.

I am aware that neither govt or DWP or Atos put into place a system of accounting and auditing the disabled and the affect on disabled and whether chronic and acute conditions were rightfully being exempt. However, every one has a National Insurnace number and all their data and facts are in the govts hands.

Therefore, can you find out for me the extent and breakdown of what types of illness and disability have been called for Atos assessments. How many were called that were on the exempt list? or recommended exempt list?

How many of certain specific conditions were called neurologial conditions, head injuries, heart conditions, Multiple Sclerosis, Cancer, stroke victims and severe mental health conditions such as schizophrenia and manic depression or bi-polar or personality disorders. I have found all such conditions and even people with acute psychosis have been called and interviewed alone and struck off as fit even though psychotic and suffering delusions and hearing voices and being strongly led by their psychosis.

It is important that a true breakdown of what types of illness are being assessed by Atos inadequqte medical assessments and what the outcome is.

Please provide me with the breakdown asap. I think it is in the interests of public knowledge and public safety and wellbeing that these facts were known. To avoid doing so may mean a worse disaster later. We need to know whether wrong decisions are being made in regards to people's health and general public safety and negligence of accountability and trustworthyness by an agent acting on behalf of the government, who is putting us all at risk.

Yours faithfully,

J Knight

Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Department for Work and Pensions's handling of my FOI request 'Breakdown of Types of Illnesses and Outcome of DWP Atos Assessements'.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am asking for a review because as a qualified nurse and for any medic the response is not adequate. It is important what types of illnesses are being assessed by Atos medicals and what their decisions and outcomes are. To do otherwise is neglect.

To show examples of why it is important see two audio tapes taken from an Atos Recruitment Fair which has the Atos rep saying he does not care about what the person's medical condition is, how it is affected or made worse, how he mocks disabled by pretend hobbling along the room and even in the worse case scenario where another person or even child is killed Atos is not interested. This surely cannot be a healthy, ethical or in any way an acceptable way for the DWP and govt to operate.

I am seriously asking the types of illnesses and disabilities that go through the Atos medical assessments and their results and outcomes. As serious consequences are happening with disabled who are deemed fit to work but then die of through illnesses due to the judgement and exertions of Atos medicals and trying to work, or have committed suicide or suffered relapse in their severe mental illness to point of self harm, harming others, attacking and even killing their family members and children and babies, and being readmitted to intense mental hospitals and wards. I really do think it is important and imperative that the types of illnesses and their judgements and the affect afterwards is known and released to the public.

In a question to an Atos rep about making a Aortic Venal Ulcer move and if it burst the Atos rep said he was not interested in a person's medical condition or what happened to them or even if they are harmed or died. Only if he could do the exercises. As I was describing an ulcer on the heart and serious heart disease were movement could burst the septic ulcer and poison and make the person bleed to death internally I find it amazing you refuse to identify the illnesses being assessed by Atos when they do not care about the illness or how their assessment might kill them.

This is poor accounting and auditing by any one in trying to evaluate the effect and outcome of their business and practice.

I am a qualified nurse so I have the authority to say so and raise my concerns.

Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

Added links to audio of Atos Recruitment Fairs and feedback results from the After Atos Assessment "Customer" Feedback Survey. If the govt and DWP do not and refuse to get the feedback and response then the disabled and public are going to have to do it themselves:

Atos Recruitment Fair "We Don't Care What Medical Condition they have? Or if we harm or injure them or even kill them, it is their choice."

Atos Recruitment Fair "We Don't Care if under stress a mental health person harms, attacks or kills others such as family work mates or even a child, or reoffends as in sexual attacks. Sex offenders with Forensic and psychotic backgrounds are being deemed fit for work

Thank you for the work you are doing June.

It is very important that questions such as this are asked, although we have learnt through experience that any tactics will be employed to avoid accepting responsibility. However, all this evidence is being put in the public domain, along with the evasive responses and this will act as evidence when these people are eventually brought to account to face the legal consequences of their actions.

All information from the After Atos Assessment "Customer" Feedback Survey results if free for any one to access and to freely use as part of any argument or presentation trying to bring this incompetent and not fit for service system to a halt. Even if so, I believe a complete accounting of all the disabled who have gone through the Atos assessments and WCA programme need to be accounted and audited for, for the sake of government accountability, assessment and auditing of Atos itself and the success and effectiveness of its system on disabled and for the sake of education and informing future people and governments to come. if nothing else the government needs to account for the people it is responsible for, its own citizens.

If government don't tell it, we will give it.

Dear DWP Adelphi Freedom-of-Information-Request,

I have still not got the response to my question which is clear, only a sales speech from the DWP explaining and defining their policy. For not giving a clear response on the types of illness and disabilities going through the Atos assessments and their outcomes it shows the govt and department are intentional on covering up and denying all knowledge of what is happening to the disabled. Which must be pretty bad as they refuse to actively engage and giev reassurance and verifiable facts.

Yours sincerely,

June Knight

This has not been answered so it is not "Partially Successful" I do not know who posted it was partially successful it certainly is not me. I consider request unanswered other than the reply that they could not answer or were restricted as exempt from the FOI.

I find it odd June that the government do not allow people who have intolerable terminal illnesses, whose only wish is to be released from their suffering by having their life ended, are told that life is sacred and anyone who attempts to aide them in their wish risks imprisonment. Yet the same government can treat vulnerable people in such a fashion that they feel they are left with no alternative other than to, 'alledgedly', end their lives. http://calumslist.org/

I know people who had been on Incapacity Benefit for many years. They had very little or none at all help from DWP to try to help them back into work.

Then when they had an ATOS medical assessment for "migration" to ESA, they initially got zero points.
DWP failed to follow the DWP proper procedure of the Decision maker contacting the claimant by telephone.
In my opinion, the DWP needs to appoint Social Workers to Support claimants in the early days after they are awarded ESA.

On the other hand, relating to the new PIP, claimants seem to me to be treated with much more respect than ESA claimants.

Thank you both.

I am well up on it and been very involved. It is a cull and no interest as to well being or care or pain or suffering of disabled and terminally ill.

The govt have refused to publish figures of death tolls in 2012 and 2013 and onwards after it was revealed over 10,600 disabled died within 6 weeks of Atos assessments in 2011. The death tolls of vulnerable, disabled, elderly, combat vets and abuse victims from suicides goes up and up and up.

AS for PIP Atos has the contract for this. Maximus who took over the Ato assessments re WCA are another arm of Atos and UNum and the same medical adviser and executive is their man Dr Michael O'Donnell.

It has not changed and the cull and targetting goes on, while public money goes to these firms and private mega corporation to rip off and deny the British Public of the very services they have paid for and should be supporting them
It is embezzlement, theft and the disintegration of a nation not just the disabled.

Take note, this is not a small thing. This is purposeful and resilient towards its end and purpose.

Thanks for contributing, the question remains unanswered and the govt reject the need to account and be held to account.

The deaths of disabled, elderly, vulnerable and killing in hospital due to Liverpoll Care Programme euthanasia etc in the last few years now outnumber the deaths of jews in Polish
ghettos in 1940/41 when they were cut off from resources and basic sustenance to.

The success of the Liverpool Care Programme were you are referred without your consent or knowledge of your relatives to die of starvation and dehydration is so "successful" The private firm who refers you to die (does not do it, is not nurse or doctor) gets £30,000 per referral. It is so successful they now want LCP killing to extend so that a 3rd of deaths in hospital are by the LCP killing approach, die of starvation and slow painful dehydration over several days, be sedated so you cannot say anything or move, and die to the tune of giving these firms £30,000.

I bet some people cannot even afford to bury their deceased and have to ask for assistance and a loan or pauper burial.

Do not be deceived.
