Breakdown of results of May 2017 survey of CWYM parents and carers conducted by the College / Which other parents was it not sent to?

Patrick Lee made this Freedom of Information request to Bournemouth and Poole College

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was refused by Bournemouth and Poole College.

Dear Bournemouth and Poole College,

The College carried out feedback surveys of parents and carers for each of the CWYM (Centre for Wessex Young Musicians) ensembles in May 2017 via sending out forms on 12 and 13 May. I am writing to request the following under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

1. For each group separately (Wessex Starter Strings, Wessex Middle Strings, Wessex Junior Fanfare, Wessex Youth Fanfare, theory classes, and Wessex Youth Orchestra) please provide a list of the questions asked and a breakdown of the results of the survey for each question.

2. Despite being CWYM parents, neither my wife nor I were sent a copy of this survey. How many other CWYM parents was the survey NOT sent to?

3. Why was the question "Are you happy with the quality of the tuition" included on the forms sent to the other groups, but not for Wessex Youth Orchestra parents?

4. In the interests of transparency, such feedback surveys are normally carried out by an independent organisation, and include quantitative measures (e.g. indicate your satisfaction on a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 being very dissatisfied, 2 dissatisfied, 3 neither satisfied nor dissatisfied, 4 satisfied, 5 very satisfied). This is so that a more objective assessment can be made and a better comparison from year to year (e.g. the average satisfaction score went up from 4 to 4.2). Why did the College not do either of these things and will it consider doing so in future?

Yours faithfully,

Patrick Lee
