Freedom of Information,

Dear Mr Perrin

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000

With reference to your recent request for information, we apologise that the force has not yet provided a response. However we can confirm that it is being progressed.

An increase in the volume of requests and staff abstractions within the department has, unfortunately, caused a delay with some requests. The force is currently experiencing a significant back log.

However, the force will endeavour to reply as soon as possible.

If you are dissatisfied with the way West Midlands Police has handled your request, you are entitled to pursue the matter with the Information Commissioners Office at www.ico.gov.uk or in writing to:

The Information Commissioners Office

Thank you

Dear Mr Perrin

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000

Further to your email, received 26 March 2013 concerning demonstrations, I
am pleased to enclose the following information.  Please note that these
data are the closest we hold to your request. They should not be
interpreted as representing anything other than as described in this
response.

Please find attached our response.

Please note that these data should be interpreted with caution. Comparing
numbers of crimes can be misleading and does not necessarily indicate the
likelihood of someone being a victim of crime. In addition, the number of
incidents/crimes recorded in an area over a period of time can be
influenced by a number of factors. Consequently statistics on
incidents/crimes for one period may not necessarily be a good indicator of
future incidents in that area.

Please note that these data should be interpreted with caution. Areas
differ in terms of size and they may have different ethnic, cultural or
economic compositions. Therefore comparing numbers of crimes can be
misleading and does not necessarily indicate the likelihood of someone
being a victim of crime. In addition, the number of incidents/crimes
recorded in an area over a period of time can be influenced by a number of
factors. Consequently statistics on incidents/crimes for one period may
not necessarily be a good indicator of future incidents in that area.

Every effort is made to ensure that the figures presented are accurate and
complete. However, it is important to note that these data have been
extracted from a number of data sources used by forces for police
purposes. The detail collected to respond specifically to your request is
subject to the inaccuracies inherent in any large scale recording system.
As a consequence, care should be taken to ensure data collection processes
and their inevitable limitations are taken into account when interpreting
those data.

The figures provided therefore are our best interpretation of relevance of
data to your request but you should be aware that the collation of figures
for ad hoc requests may have limitations and this should be taken into
account when those data are used.

If you decide to write an article / use the enclosed data we would ask you
to take into consideration the factors highlighted in this document so as
to not mislead members of the public or official bodies or misrepresent
the relevance of the whole or any part of this disclosed material.

Your attention is drawn to your right to request a re-examination of your
case under West Midlands Police review procedure, which can be found at:

http://www.west-midlands.police.uk/pdf/F...

Please note that such an appeal must be received within 40 working days of
the date of this correspondence.

If you require any further information, then please do not hesitate to
contact me.

Yours sincerely,

Susan Brown
