Dear Mr Hale

TfL ref: FOI-0434-1112

Thank you for your email received by Transport for London (TfL) on 6 July
2011 asking for information about the yellow box junction at Loampit
Vale/Thurston Road.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 and TfL's information access policy. I can confirm
that TfL does hold the information you require. You asked for:

1. I request you supply me the dimensions of the yellow box junction at
Loampit Vale/Thurston Road, London SE13.

We do not keep a record of the yellow box junction dimensions. However we
can confirm that the one referred to at Loampit Vale/Thurston Road is
compliant with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions
(TSRGD) and is enforceable.

2. I also request you supply me with the map, site drawings, and all
photos of the above yellow box junction.

Please see the attachments. Some of the photos show that the road markings
are very faint. Please note that this location was unenforceable between
23 August 2006 and 27 January 2010.

3. I request you supply me with information of any alterations of this
particular yellow box junction since its introduction.

Our records do not give an accurate date for when the box junction was
redesigned, but would suggest that it was some time in early 2009.

4. I also request you supply me with the date of the most recent
inspection for the yellow box junction and a copy of the inspection
report, including any recommendations for repainting the box.

The location is subject to quarterly inspection, the most recent of which
was carried out on 18 January 2011, when no fault was found with the
Yellow Box Junction. Reports are only raised when there is a defect to
address, and therefore this junction does not appear on the survey sheet
(please see attachment `Lewisham TLRN Quarterly Survey Sheet'.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable
to access it for some reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached
information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely

The box junction has does not comply
with the Traffic Signs Regulations & General Directions 2002 in that the markings do not touch the corners of the kerb, but are set back from the kerb.
