Dear North Northamptonshire Council,
As a freedom of information request, please provide data regarding the number of challenges to books received by your library/libraries for each calendar between 2018 and 2022, plus so far in 2023. For this request, a book challenge is defined as a formal complaint requesting that materials be removed from a library because of content or inappropriateness. Specifically, please provide each of the following for each year if available:
• The number of challenges received
• The title and author of the books challenged
• The reason (if any) provided for the challenge
• The action taken in response to the challenge

As a freedom of information request, please provide data regarding the

Specifically, please provide each of the following for each year if

• The title and author of the books challenged – N/A
• The reason (if any) provided for the challenge – N/A
• The action taken in response to the challenge – N/A
I trust the above is helpful, however if you are dissatisfied with the way
we have handled your enquiry or you are unhappy with the response
provided, you have the right to request an internal review. You can do

Please note a request for an internal review should be submitted no later
than 40 working days from the date of receipt of this response. The
Council is not obliged to accept a request for an internal review beyond
this timeframe. A full response to your request for a review will be
provided within 20 working days.

the right to appeal to the Information Commissioner (ICO). It is
