Book bannings

The request was partially successful.

Dear Department for Education,

After Jo Johnson’s speech to the Limmud Conference on Boxing Day, he took questions. One of these asked if he could give any examples of books being banned (or attempts being made to ban books) from university libraries. He replied that he had received correspondence confirming that these things had taken place, but sadly he couldn’t call to mind any examples.

Therefore, please could you disclose, in response to this email, all such correspondence that you hold. I imagine it will be relatively easy to find in that (I) the speechwriter will have had these materials to hand to ensure that the speech was accurate, and (II) you can run a search on your email system for key words such as ‘ban’, ‘library’ etc.

Yours faithfully,
G Webber
