Bonus Scandal - continued

Tim McCormack made this Freedom of Information request to Post Office Limited Automatic anti-spam measures are in place for this older request. Please let us know if a further response is expected or if you are having trouble responding.

The request was successful.

Dear Post Office Limited,

Nick Read in the last Select Committee hearing stated this:

Andy McDonald: Have all other recipients of such a bonus voluntarily
returned the payment?
Nick Read: As it currently stands, 30 of the 34 individuals who worked in
the organisation have voluntarily paid their money back. One is on
long-term sick and we have not yet heard back from three.

a) I know that Al Cameron is on long term sick so I assume that it is he that Nick Read refers to.
Please can you confirm that Al Cameron has not repaid that part of the bonus that Nick Read repaid?

b) In today's World at One program on Radio 4 (17th June 2023) NIck Read stated that 45 individuals had repaid that portion of the bonus that Mr Read paid back. Please confirm whether it is 34 or 45 or perhaps more as the number seems to be getting bigger as time goes on and if you can, provide evidence to explain Mr Read's mistake.

c) How many of the number of people that you have now determined in answering question (b) have you heard back from?

Yours faithfully,

Tim McCormack
