Bonus Payments 2021/2022

Guy made this Freedom of Information request to Post Office Limited This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

The request was successful.

Dear Post Office Limited,
As alluded to on today's Parliamentary Select Committee, i would like to know the following please:
1. Who owned the metric to which Nick Read (CEO) said he would return his bonus against?
2. Can you confirm the number of individuals that have returned a portion of their bonus for the year 2021/2022 please?
3. What Directorates did these people work in (number 2)?
4. Was the same percentage level returned as per Nick Reads bonus from these individuals?
5. Who set these these metrics?
6. Who set these levels within the overall bonus scheme?
7. Who/what team was responsible for producing the Annual Report & Accounts?
8. Did the CFO have authority to sign off the bonus package for all individuals?
9. When is the next bonus due to be paid?
10. Why did the CEO feel returning only £7,200 for a sub-metric rather than the full Inquiry related metric was appropriate?

Yours faithfully,

Guy

Dear [email address],
Thank you for your response dated 21st July 2023.

Your response to some of the questions was that it was set by the Remuneration Committee, but you have not stipulated who was on this Committee.
Your response to number 2 of my request points to Q65 that was asked in a Westminster session. However, it is in question 64, where it states:
"Q64 Andy McDonald: Have all other recipients of such a bonus voluntarily returned the payment?
Nick Read: As it currently stands, 30 of the 34 individuals who worked in the organisation have voluntarily paid their money back. One is on long-term sick and we have not yet heard back from three."
But this was a response made over a month ago. By your response does this mean the 4 individuals have still not voluntary paid the bonuses back?
Also, in the recent World at One programme on Radio 4 (17th June 2023) Nick Read stated that 45 individuals had repaid that portion of the bonus back. Please confirm what the correct number is as there could be growing scepticism that the number is being incorrectly stated in a number of places.

Yours sincerely,
Guy Forkes
