Bonfire Night - Fire Service Callouts and Costs
Dear North Wales Fire and Rescue Service,
I am writing to make a request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. Please provide me with the following information:
1 - The number of calls made to your fire service relating to incidents on Bonfire Night (5th November) for each of the last three years (2021, 2022, and 2023).
2 - The number of incidents your fire service actually attended after being called out on Bonfire Night (5th November) for each of the last three years (2021, 2022, and 2023).
3 - The total cost to your fire service of attending firework-related incidents for each of the last three financial years (2021-22, 2022-23, and 2023-24).
Please provide this data separately for each year so that a year-on-year comparison can be made.
If one part of the request can be answered sooner than the others, please send that information first, followed by any subsequent data.

Further to your recent request to North Wales Fire and Rescue Service made
under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act regarding Bonfire
Incidents. Please see the below and attached for the response from North
Wales Fire and Rescue Service.

We are unable to provide precise costs for attending firework-related
incidents due to various factors associated with firefighters' terms and
conditions. These include differences between wholetime stations, staffed
by full-time employees, and retained stations, where staff receive a
retainer fee plus additional pay for attending incidents.
If you are dissatisfied with the handling of your request, you have the
right to ask for an internal review. Internal review requests should be
submitted within two months of the date of receipt of the response to your
