Bollards by Island Gardens Park Entrance
Dear Tower Hamlets Borough Council,
Bollards were erected on Saunders Ness Road in front of the main western access to the Grade II listed Island Gardens Park.
The entrance to the park at this location was enhanced as part of a Heritage Lottery funded improvement. There was a wall which delineated the park from the community building. The subsequent demolishing of the old Community Building, and its replacement with a new residential development is now impacting this park access, whose entrances face the enhanced park entrance. The park entrance is designated public highway.
In February 2020 six bollards, two of which were removable for access when necessary, were erected to prevent incursions by vehicles to the park entrance area. In less than one week they were removed without due reason or any consultation of the park user group.
Please can you provide ALL correspondence held by council officers which led to the bollards being erected.
Additionally ALL correspondence which led to their removal. Please ensure that all appropriate departments are requested to provide necessary correspondence.
Yours faithfully,
Ralph Hardwick
