Hi Paul.

The gathering of “evidence” by surreptitious means plays a much larger part in a WCA than many would imagine. I pursued in part through
http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/un...

which is now with the ICO and approaching conclusion. I’ll post the result.

Dear DWP Adelphi Freedom-of-Information-Request,

By law I should have received a response by the 17th July 2012, this has not happened, can you please inform me as to why there is a delay?

Yours sincerely,

Paul Smith

Now I am concerned that my fidgeting in the chair was interpreted as telling lies when in fact my haemorrhoids were playing up.

LOL - That assumes that the HCP looked away long enough from the LiMA screen to notice anything!

The more we learn the more ESA looks like a total farce!

Their solution was based on a hypothetical wheelchair fitted with a hypothetical rubber ring. Job done.

An understanding of body language could help if there is a lack of knowledge of the spoken word given in a response to an enquiry!

John Slater left an annotation ()

Body language is truely part of any conversation but it is totally subjective. Also given that the people being assessed are ill and in a completely artificial situation that makes it even less reliable. I would love to know how the DWP square the circle given that the claim that ESA is about evidence based medicine! I'm not aware of any body language experts that are allowed to give evidence in criminal courts!

More than anything else, I resent the fact that this is another technique deployed based on the assumption that the person on the other side of the desk is a fraudster whose answers cannot be taken at face value.
