Good afternoon,

Please see the responses to your freedom of information requests, H 1 48
604 and H 1 48 606, below:-

H 1 48 604

In November 2015 The First Minister made a commitment to work towards
gender balance on all public boards in Scotland.

Please could you supply me with the following information on gender
balance in the organisation?

 1. How many women are now on the board of your organisation and how many
people of other genders are there?

The sportscotland board includes 5 women and 7 men.

The sportscotland Trust Company directors include 7 women and 4 men.

You can find more information about sportscotland’s equality reporting
at:- [1]Equality reporting (sportscotland.org.uk)

2. Is the current Chairperson (or person with an equivalent role) a woman
or someone of another gender?

The current sportscotland board Chair is male and the current Vice-Chair
is female.

Both the sportscotland Trust Company Chair and Vice-Chair are female.

3. What is the current median FTE pay for men and women in the
organisation?

o Male current median FTE salary - £40,362.48
o Female current median FTE salary - £35,171.36

Please note, these figures do not include people:-

o on training schemes at the National Centres; nor
o on a casual contract (as they do not have an annualised salary); nor
o the sportscotland Chair or board positions.

In addition, I would be grateful if you could provide me with the
following information about board members.

4. Please supply the names of everyone currently on the board along with
their registers of interest and the date that their register was last
updated.

This information is otherwise accessible as per section 25(1) of the
Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002. For ease, please see the link
to sportscotland’s website below for the board members’ names and their
most recent registers of interest.

[3]Trust Company Board (sportscotland.org.uk)

5. Please supply details of any payments made to any of the board members
in the last 12 months, and a summary of the purpose of each payment.

Please see the attached spreadsheet which shows the board payments made
and days worked for the last twelve months.  As per your query in H 1 48
606, we have also included the period from January to March, 2020, so the
spreadsheet will give the full picture from January 2020 to March, 2021.
(Please note that this could be categorised as a repeated request as per
section 14(2) of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 as these
two requests ask for some of the same information twice – on this occasion
sportscotland has provided the information in a joint response, for ease).

The board receive payments depending on number of days.  £257.51 was
payment for 1.5 days (daily rate of £171.67).  The daily rate was
increased at April 2020 to £176.82; £353.64 is for 2 days, £707.28 for 4
days – depending on their meeting attendance and whether they were at
Audit Committee as well they will receive different amounts.

Please also note that we have removed the board members’ names as this is
personal data as per section 38(1)(b) of the Freedom of Information
(Scotland) Act 2002 (third party personal data).

Regarding the Chair, he is not included on this spreadsheet as he is
salaried. In accordance with section 38(1)(b) of the Freedom of
Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (third party personal data), we have not
included the detail of his earnings over this period, however, as per the
sportscotland accounts (which are yet to be finalised), we can confirm
that he earned between £15,000 and £20,000 in the last year.

Finally, no payments were made to the sportscotland Trust Company
independent directors.  The spreadsheet does however capture the payments
made to the two non independent directors who also sit on the
sportscotland Board.

non-executive board members. I am looking for figures on:

personal data as per section 38(1)(b) of the Freedom of Information
(Scotland) Act 2002 (third party personal data).

Regarding the Chair, he is not included on this spreadsheet as he is
salaried.  He works a total of 48.1 hours per month (577.2 hours per
year).  In accordance with section 38(1)(b) of the Freedom of Information
(Scotland) Act 2002 (third party personal data), we have not included the
detail of his earnings over this period, however, as per the sportscotland
accounts (which are yet to be finalised), we can confirm that he earned

response for our records. If you are not satisfied with our response, you
are entitled to ask us to review our decision. You must make this request
within 40 working days of the date of this response, explaining why you

As per your query in H 1 48

section 14(2) of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 as these
two requests ask for some of the same information twice – on this occasion
sportscotland has provided the information in a joint response, for ease).
