Board Maintained Watercourses

M Hufton made this Freedom of Information request to Danvm Drainage Commissioners

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was partially successful.

Dear Danvm Drainage Commissioners,

My FOI request stated that

'if 416km refers to maintained watercourses only, please provide the total length of all watercourses'
You don't appear however to have provided the total length of all watercourses in your reply. Please clarify if this information is available and if so the total length of all watercourses

Regarding your refusal/inability to provide specific data on the length of all watercourses maintained by the IDB in 2017, I had assumed that this information wuld be provided on an annual basis to the varous Local Authorities who appear from the IDB Accounts to fund in excess of 80% of the IDB's work via Special Levies. Without detailed information on the length of watercourses actually maintained, it is difficult to see how the various Local Authorities can be satisfied that the work they are funding is being undertaken in as cost effective a manner as possible and in a way that guarantees value for money for their respective tax payers

From the tabulated information provided, I calculate that in 2017, approximately 64% of the 416km of watercourses was maintained

Your reply also states that 'once the 2018 maintenance plan has been finalised, details of prioritized maintenance will be available'. Please confirm when you expect this information to be available and whether it will be displayed automatically on the IDB website or whether it will be necessary to submit a FOI request to access the information

Yours faithfully,
M Hufton
