Dear Frank
Your information request (1825)
Thank you for your information request of 17 July 2024 which we have
logged under the above reference number.
Section 1(3) Of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) allows public
authorities to request further information where they reasonably require
it in order to locate and extract the information required. In order to
locate data most relevant to your request, we would be grateful if you
were able to specify a time frame to guide our searches – for example, if
you could specify a period of months or a year in which you are
interested, or supply a cut-off date for historical searches relating to
the request, then this would be most helpful to us in terms of organising
our searches of relevant records.
We look forward to your response so that we can proceed with your request.
Yours sincerely
Aimee Gasston

Dear Aimee,
Many thanks for your reply and I apologise for not making this clearer in my request. Please could you limit the scope of the request from 1 January 2022 to the present date? If you believe that this would invoke the section 12 appropriate limit, although it's unlikely it will, please provide what you can within the appropriate limit from the present backward towards 1 January 2022.
For the sake of clarity, I requested board and committee minutes, papers etc - my request does NOT include any internal or external correspondence by letter or email in relation to this subject. This should limit your search to the document management system where your board and committee papers are held.
Yours sincerely,
Frank Davies

Dear Frank
Your information request (1825)
Thank you again for your helpful email of 25 July 2024.
During our searches, one further issue has arisen on which we'd appreciate
further clarification. You have asked for certain types of information
'relating to' The Crown Estate Bill. Should we interpret this as referring
to substantive papers and discussions about the Bill, rather than passing
references to it? We would be glad of your advice on this so that we can
proceed with your request.
As I've mentioned before, section 1(3) of the Freedom of Information Act
2000 (FOIA) allows public authorities to request further information where
they reasonably require it in order to locate and extract the information
required.
With many thanks in advance
Aimee Gasston

Dear Frank
Your information request (1825)
I am writing to let you know that, although we had hoped to be able to
respond to your request which you kindly clarified on 4 August 2024, by
today, we will need more time to consider the balance of public interest.
Section 10(3) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) enables a
public authority to extend the statutory 20 working day limit up to a
‘reasonable’ time in any case where it requires more time to determine
whether or not the balance of the public interest lies in maintaining an
exemption. In this case, the exemptions that we need to consider are
section 35, relating to the formulation of government policy, section 42
FOIA, relating to legal professional privilege, and section 43 FOIA,
relating to commercial interests.
We hope to be able to reach a decision on the public interest by 1 October
2024 and will be in touch as soon as possible with our decision.
Yours sincerely
Aimee Gasston
