Dear Medway Council,

Following a Judicial Review the government has now decided to change the rules so that they make it clearer that eligibility is not only for those with mobility impairments.

There will now be eligibility for disabled people who cannot walk or undertake a journey: “without it causing very considerable difficulty when walking”; “without there being a reasonably foreseeable risk of serious harm to the health and safety of that person or any other person”; or “without it causing very considerable psychological distress to that person. This may include hidden disabilities .

Are Medway Council still refusing autistic individuals Blue Badges ?

What is the new policy (following the Judicial Review) at Medway council for people who cannot walk or undertake a journey: “without it causing very considerable difficulty when walking”; “without there being a reasonably foreseeable risk of serious harm to the health and safety of that person or any other person”; or “without it causing very considerable psychological distress to that person?

Where can the new policy for Blue Badges be found ?

Do you expect the people who applied for a blue badge and were refused to reapply under the judicial review guidance ?

Do you still carry out mobility assessments and only look at mobility issues when making decisions for Blue Badges ?

Does Medway Council support individual's with hidden disabilities, who need health and safety support to access services safely ?

faithfully,

Mr G Breed
