Dear Network Rail Limited,
There have been talks over the last year or so about the potential closure of the level crossing in Bloxwich, Walsall (West Midlands). I have attended a meeting when Network Rail were at Bloxwich library to discuss this, and then some months later at Walsall council house. The reasons for this closure is said to be for safety reasons.
At both meetings I asked for safety figures, and in the second meeting there were at least 3 Network Rail staff, because they were unable to provide me with an idea on incident numbers they took my e-mail address and said they would e-mail the information, after not receiving one I tried to look on your web site.
I am curious because I grew up not far from the level crossing, and since moving back to Bloxwich, I travel over the level crossing most days. Neither I or my parents are aware of any untowards events at the crossing, therefore I wanted to understand the reasoning for the closure of Bloxwich level crossing being safety.
Can you please provide me for the figures of near misses and actual incidents at Bloxwich level crossing?

Dear Network Rail,
Thank you for your reply so far. I will look forward to being able to see the figures for Bloxwich level crossing when you are able to provide them.
Thank you for the option to look on your website, I have already tried this but perhaps I wasn't looking in the right places because there is so much data! I appreciate there is so much, but to a lay person not working within the rail industry it is very complex.
Thanks for your request to the transparency team. You requested the figures of near misses and incidents at Bloxwich level crossing.
Although Network Rail is not covered by the Freedom of Information Act until April 2015, in line with our on-going commitment to transparency, we have dealt with your request as if we were.
I can confirm we hold this information. I have attached an excel sheet detailing near misses and incidents at this crossing since 2010. In addition to this information, the barriers were most recently struck and damaged by a lorry on 9th January 2015.
If you have any questions relating to the handling of your request, please contact TEDteam[@]networkrail.co.uk.
