Blood donor travel distances 2019

The request was successful.

Dear NHS Blood and Transplant,

====================

For donations of whole blood that occurred in 2019, please tell me the average distance between the session and the donor's home address.

====================

To give you more flexibility to answer this in a way that makes it as convenient as possible for you to extract the data, feel free to vary this query in the following ways, but then please state exactly which assumptions your answer is based on.

- as alternative to 2019, you may use any reasonably recent period, preferably 12 months but shorter is acceptable, provided that it doesn't substantially overlap with the COVID-19 "lockdown" period (from 23/3/2020)

- as alternative to donations that occurred during that period, you may use appointments that were booked during that period

- as alternative to donations that occurred, you may use: appointment booked (whether attended or not) or appointment attended (whether a donation was given or not)

- as alternative to donor home address, you may use the location that the donor searched for on the website when booking the appointment

- you may choose between direct ("crow flies") distance and distance by road

- average may be mean / median / mode

Thank you.

Yours faithfully,

Perry Icso
