Your request for information has now been considered and the information
requested is given below.

 

As part of the Government Green paper (Support and Aspiration) The
government has outlined a new approach to special educational needs and
disability. As part of this initiative the government requires all local
authorities in England to set out a Local Offer.

 

The purpose of the Local Offer is to enable parents and young people to
see more clearly what services are available to them in their area and how
to access them.

 

Please provide answers to the following questions

 

1.         What is your local authority currently offering for online
advice and guidance for Local Offer?

General online advice and guidance regarding Special Educational Needs and
Disability is available on the Council’s website.  Please see links
below.  The ‘Local offer’ is in the process of being prepared and will be
available, on an incremental basis, in the course of the Spring and Summer
terms 2014.

2.         What is the name of the person who is leading on the Local
Offer within your Local Authority?

 

Joan Riddel, Acting Head of SEN & and Inclusion (Principal Educational
Psychologist) took up the role of lead officer for the development of the
‘Local offer’ on January 1^st 2014.

Your request for information has now been considered and the information
requested is given below.  I apologise for the delay in us providing you
with a response on time.

1.    Do you have any block contracts for Residential Care homes &/Or
Respite Care? If yes, please advise how many Residential Care homes you
have.

We have some block contracts for respite care but none for residential
care.  We have a total of 27 Care Homes, of which 5 provide block
contracted respite care.

 

             Additionally, there are 5 which provide interim residential
care on a block basis.  

 

2.         How many beds are under Block Contracts?

Respite care, block contract beds - total 16

             

             Residential Care, block contact beds - total 14

 

3.         How much are these contracts worth?

Respite - £945,224 total value

 

             Interim Residential – £462,610 total value  

 

4.         Do you use an IT system to maximise the effectiveness of these
contracts? If
           the answer is yes, please provide details of who you have the
contract with.

           No, we do not use an IT system to maximise the effectiveness of
these            

           contracts.

 

5.         When are these contracts in place till?

            Residential contracts are coming up for review and the Council
will be 

reviewing these contracts over the next 12 months with the exception of
one

block contract which ends in 2020.  We are currently working with the
provider of this block contract to align the model of care provided to our
vision for personalisation.

 

6.         Who is the Head Of Commissioning dealing with these contracts?

 

            Paul Grubic, Assistant Director for Strategic Commissioning –
Adult Social
