Bin surveys - Wales

Basia Cummings made this Freedom of Information request to Rhondda Cynon Taff Council as part of a batch sent to 22 authorities

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear Rhondda Cynon Taff Council,

I would like to know whether the Authority has carried out any form of bin survey over the past five years.

Can the Authority provide the number of bin surveys it has conducted in each calendar year since 2014?
If applicable, can the Authority also provide the number of households subject to bin surveys in the same period?

For clarity, a bin survey is used to identify the types of rubbish being thrown away by households or which bins are being used, or both.

:: I would like to receive data in an Excel file format.
:: I would appreciate the Authority providing any assistance to me regarding my request, if appropriate and as per relevant legislation.

Yours faithfully,

Basia Cummings

Dear Ms Cummings,

We refer to your Freedom of Information Request in respect of the number
of bin surveys it has conducted in each calendar year since 2014, and the
number of households subject to bin surveys in the same period.

Please refer to attachment for the Authority's response.

**PLEASE NOTE** that all the surveys listed were measuring who actually
recycles food and dry rather than what was in their bin. Also, the reason
was to then carry out awareness calls to encourage the resident not
recycling to recycle.

If you are unhappy with the way your request for information has been
handled, you can request a review of the Council’s response. If you wish
to exercise this right, you must do so within 40 working days of the date
of this response. Please set out in writing your grounds and send your
appeal to Mrs Julie Llewellyn. She may be reached at
[1][email address] or at RCT CBC, Pavilions, Clydach Vale,
Tonypandy, CF40 2XX.

Additionally you may, if you wish, find out more about the Freedom of
Information Act & Environmental Information Regulations from the
Information Commissioner at
[2]http://www.ico.org.uk/

We trust this answers your queries.

Yours Sincerely

Carfan Llywodraethu Corfforaethol / Corporate Governance Team
