Dear Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council,
Please confirm if bin collections are funded from the collection of Council Tax.
Dear Mr Tsigarides,
Thank you for your recent request made under the Freedom of Information
Act. Our response is as follows:
The Council receives funding from a variety of sources – council tax,
business rates and government grants (some of which are directly allocated
to fund a specific service, others being of a general nature). Funding for
bin collections would be a combination of council tax, business rates and
non-specific grants. We are not required to earmark a specific element
from each of these funding sources to a particular service and would
therefore not do so for bin collections”.
I trust this will be of assistance to your enquiries.
