BHCC Employee stats

1.Total number of Brighton and Hove City Council employees.
As at 31 March 2014, the council had a total of 11,274 staff. This figure includes both schools and non-schools contracted employees and workers engaged on a casual basis. However, the figure excludes individuals working for the council on an agency basis.

2. Total cost of employees in 1 above.
We refer you to page 13 of the council’s Statement of Accounts for the financial year 2013/14. This states that the council’s total pay bill for that year was £291.311 million. However, it is important to draw your attention to the fact that this figure includes the cost of engaging staff on an agency basis whereas the headcount figure provided in response to Q1 above excludes agency workers.

3. The names of all BHCC employees earning in excess of £100,000 and the amount each receives.
