Bearpit maintenance etc

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Bristol City Council should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Bristol City Council,

Please confirm that the Bearpit public footpaths are maintained by the Council, but that the containers and areas around them (fenced off) are the responsibility of either PRSC or the Bearpit trader group

Yours faithfully,

Richard Carey

Dear Bristol City Council,

Please clarify the panning schedule for cleaning and maintenance and the actual cleaning and maintenance undertaken, I personally clean the area every Saturday and do not see any BCC employees. Certain areas are physically blocked and I would like to know how you maintain them without the keys..

Yours faithfully,

Richard Carey

The Bearpit is cleansed on a daily basis aside from the areas that are inaccessible to the public. Cleansing includes litter picking, collection of waste and fly tipping, graffiti removal, and the pressure washing of surfaces, although not all of these cleansing types will happen daily. The
areas that are inaccessible to the public are similarly inaccessible to Bristol Waste Company. These areas should not be accessed by the public.

It is our understanding that someone has broken into one of the sections that was locked. If you are in areas that were locked which have been broken into then you are trespassing on council land. In one of these sections that has been broken into there is a pile of waste next to an electrical
box which someone has tried to set on fire. It would appear that whoever broke into this area and piled the waste where they have has created a fire risk and made this area very unsafe.

The council thanks everyone who volunteers within Bristol, but please understand that it is not your responsibility to cleanse inaccessible areas of the Bearpit. These areas were previously subject to licences which have now ended and it will be for the council to determine what happens there.

Dear Bristol City Council,

Hi there,

As the waste in this area is still present we will be taking ownership of all locked areas under adverse possession and securing them against vigilantes looking to burn out the homeless.

Can you confirm when and how council workers will be instructed not to trespass on our claimed land?

Yours faithfully,

Richard Carey
