BDS statistics of graduate applicants
Dear University of Leeds,
I would be grateful to you if you could disclose the bmat scores of the graduate applicants for the BDS course for the entries 2017,2018,2019, 2020 and 2021. Also, how many graduates applied, got an interview and admitted into the BDS course in the above entry years? Finally, do you have a certain quota for the graduate applicants?
Yours faithfully,
Sarlize

Dear Freedom of Information,
Thanks a lot for your reply to my inquiry.
In addition, I would like to further ask you whether it is possible to be reconsidered via clearing if I have already applied to the Dentistry course at the University of Leeds this year but unfortunately I got rejected post-interview.
Yours sincerely,
Sara
Dear Sara
Please let me know whether you are asking this question under the FOI Act, or whether you are asking whether you personally can apply through clearing? If you are asking about your personal application this would not be an FOI request, and I would recommend that you speak with the School of Dentistry directly. You can find their contact information on our website at the following web link: https://medicinehealth.leeds.ac.uk/denti...
If you are seeking more general information about whether someone who did not advance past the interview stage of the admissions process would be allowed to apply through clearing, please let me know and I will process this as a new Freedom of Information request.
Yours sincerely

Thanks a lot for your reply.
Yours sincerely,
Sara

Dear Sarlize Cha,
Freedom of Information Response (Our Ref: K/21/321)
Thank you for your Freedom of Information (FOI) request dated 18 June

Your request read:
“I would be grateful to you if you could disclose the bmat scores of the
graduate applicants for the BDS course for the entries 2017,2018,2019,
2020 and 2021. Also, how many graduates applied, got an interview and
admitted into the BDS course in the above entry years?”
The University of Leeds holds some of this information.
We do not rely on the raw BMAT score for applicants, instead ranking
candidates against one another. As such, we do not keep a record of
individual scores.
Application, interview and offer numbers are set out in the table below.
+------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| |Applications |Interviews |Offers made |
|------------+--------------------+------------------+-------------------|
|2017 |474 |Not held |115 |
|------------+--------------------+------------------+-------------------|
|2018 |468 |Not held |118 |
|------------+--------------------+------------------+-------------------|
|2019 |496 |Not held |115 |
|------------+--------------------+------------------+-------------------|
|2020 |551 |Not held |115 |
|------------+--------------------+------------------+-------------------|
|2021 |436 |279 |116 |
+------------------------------------------------------------------------+
We are not able to isolate interview numbers for the A200 Dental Surgery
course for the years 2017-2020. This is because we only hold the total
number of interviews carried out for all courses offered by the School of
Dentistry, with no split by course.
We hope this information is helpful. If you have any questions about this
email, however, please do not hesitate to contact us on [1][University of Leeds request email]
