writing to confirm that the requested information is held by the university.

Your request

of the following information from the past 3 application cycles:

What does the selection process consist of and how are GCSEs, UCAT scores, A-levels, personal statements
etc, weighed
Also, are A-level resits accepted and if so, are there any restrictions - e.g. a particular grade must be
achieved in the first sitting or only a set number of subjects resat will be accepted etc.

For the 2023 cycle, applicants who had already met or meet the entry requirements, as per
those listed on our website under ‘Entry requirements’ Dentistry - King's College London
(kcl.ac.uk)
, had their personal statement and reference reviewed for suitability. It was
expected that the personal statement demonstrated an interest in studying Dentistry.
Neither the personal statement nor reference were scored.

Applications demonstrating suitability against the entry requirements and in relation to
their personal statement and reference were then ranked according to their UCAT score
(total score and SJT band) compared to other applicants, with improvement given for
GCSE results (number of A*s) as well as an improvement on ranking if considered a
Widening Participation (WP) applicant.

For the 2023 cycle, A-level resits were acceptable if an applicant’s final A-level grades
provided were from a second sitting and rather than a third or higher order sitting,
Applicants providing grades from a third sitting were usually only considered where there
were mitigating circumstances and would usually have asked for further information and
then referred them for a case-by-case review with our Admissions Tutor.

This completes the university’s response to your information request.

Your right to complain

If you are unhappy with the service you have received in relation to your information
request or feel that it has not been properly handled you have the right to complain or
request a review of our decision by contacting the Director of Information Governance &
Data Protection Officer within 60 days of the date of this letter.
