-What does the selection process consist of and how are GCSEs, UCAT scores, A-levels, personal statements etc, weighed
-Also, are A-level resits accepted and if so, are there any restrictions - e.g. a particular grade must be achieved in the first sitting or only a set number of subjects resat will be accepted etc.
For further information- I am a prospective first-time applicant.

Dear Fiona Hyseni,
Thank you for your information request which has been handled under the
Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (FoI(S)A).
Please find our responses to your first and second questions tabulated
below for ease of reference.
Entry Year Applications Interviews UCAT Total Score Offers
Lowest Highest Average
2020/1 519 303 2030 3060 2529 138
2021/2 512 207 1970 3060 2536 <5
2022/3 687 220 2120 3180 2608 147
In response to your third question, the selection process consists of
academic scoring using a scale of 10 dependent on certified and predicted
study. A-Level candidates are assessed on certified GCSE grades and
predicted A-Level grades. The academic score is combined with the UCAT
score when selecting for interviews - the combined score for Non-Graduates
is: 60% Academic Score and 40% UCAT Score, Graduates: 40% Academic Score
and 60% UCAT Score.
The University does not score personal statements, but the personal
statement is an important aspect of the UCAS application. It allows
applicants to tell us more about their non-academic achievements and why
they are suited to the study of dentistry. Personal statements are
assessed in 2 stations at interview.
In response to your last question, the University does not normally accept
resits but can consider them on a case-by-case basis if evidence of
extenuating circumstances is provided.
I hope you find this information useful.
Right to review
If you are unhappy with our response to your request under FoI(S)A you may
request a review. If you wish to request a review of our response, please

your dissatisfaction. This must be done within 40 working days of

for review, you may ask the Scottish Information Commissioner to review
our decision. You must submit your request to the Commissioner within 6
