BDS admissions enquiry

The request was successful.

Dear University of Manchester,
I am emailing this request in accordance with the FOI act. I would like to know if you accept the AQA level 2 certificate in further mathematics as an equivalent to a GCSE when looking at a student meeting basic GCSE entry requirements?

Yours faithfully,

Ghaus Sohail

Dear Ghaus,

Thank you for your email requesting the following:

I am emailing this request in accordance with the FOI act. I would like to
know if you accept the AQA level 2 certificate in further mathematics as
an equivalent to a GCSE when looking at a student meeting basic GCSE

Our Directorate of Student experience note that they can only provide a
general response as it would be unusual for one qualification to be
considered in isolation with the other qualifications that an applicant
has studies/is studying. The University’s general recommendation would be
to accept the AQA level 2 in lieu of the standard Maths GCSE as this
qualification is for students who either already have, or are expected to
achieve, grades 7, 8 and 9 in GCSE mathematics (and are likely to progress
to A-Level study in Mathematics and possibly Further Mathematics). We are
only able to answer your question in a general way as there will be some
cases where an applicant with an AQA level 2 certificate in further
mathematics may not be accepted although this is likely to be as other
aspects of the pre-requisites have not been met.

I hope you find the above helpful.

Best regards

Lisa
