BBC Policy - Covert Human Intelligence Source
Dear British Broadcasting Corporation,
Please can you disclose the BBC policies/procedures/guidelines that cover a member of your staff, signing up to be, or becoming, a Covert Human Intelligence Source for the police, as defined by the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act (2000), during the course of their employment by the BBC.
If no such policy exists, what procedure would the BBC follow if a member of staff informed their line manager that they had signed up to be, or had become, a Covert Human Intelligence Source for the police, as defined by RIPA?
Yours faithfully,
Paul Atkinson
